As instant as its birth, so comes its death.
Alas! Alas! I cry to the heavens. Apparently, most local shops serve Bakti Chai, locally brewed in Boulder. Can anyone say, "LAME!"?
I ask that if you embrace independence, strive for creativity, and support local art, then you ought to brew your own freaking tea. I can't stand Bakti chai! Take some cinnamon, clove, and black pepper-through it into some hot milk and consume. Whether or not you enjoy it, is your own business.

Little thoughts, comments, and criticisms about the world of which we live in and the coffee and tea we drink.

Starbucks
Yes, yes. The evil corporation that is currently taking over the world. I do frequent this establishment for two reasons:
1. Convenience of location
2. My friends are comfortable meeting me there
Some, not all of the people I know, are comfortable meeting at well known, popular spots. They feel safe, almost familiar here. They know the menu. In fact, Starbucks might be the only coffee shop they have ever been to. I have yet to meet someone who drinks coffee and has not tried a cup of Starbucks.
To be polite, Starbucks should not quit their day-job, and avoid throwing it all away for a Chai fling. Warm, some kind of flavor, but inevitably lacking the spice and charm that I seek for my tea.
I meet a dear friend every Sunday for Starbucks. I'm more loyal to these gatherings than I am church. She's going through a divorce and it's amazing how a caffeinated drink can get someone to open up. We've resolved many a dilemma over a cup of coffee. We inspire each other, guide each other, and have more confidence in the certainty of our relationship than we do our romantic ones. Currently, I can lend only my ear as I am no expert on divorce, but she seems content with that.
Oddly enough, I think we should be going to church instead. I've never been specifically religious, but I have found the joy of celebration uplifting and healing. Especially, now that church includes live music, some rock, and input from the congregation at some places. I have a bible, I do read from it, and I do wish that everyone could take inspiration from Christ's story. Love unconditionally, don't judge, accept what Life has handed you, and when you feel the most alone, realize that you're not. Religion, any religion, any spiritual belief, that's the spice and charm of life.
I am a Sagittarius. I have a Libra rising and Capricorn moon. There is also a conjunction between the moon, Jupiter, and Venus in my birth chart. My mom taught me to read Tarot when I turned 16. My dad taught me to appreciate the earth. My sister converted to Mormonism this last year, and I've never seen her happier. This year I've explored Buddhism, and in previous years I've studied Wicca, Judaism, and Christianity. What inspires me most, is that the theme of Love seems consistent in all these beliefs.
I guess for today I'll leave it at that.
Here's to finding the spice and charm in your life!

Addicted...
Born in Denver in 1984 on the 26th of November. I grew up in a small town in the mountains, where there are no coffee shops. Then had a great apartment in Colorado Springs, where there is no diversity. So, I moved to Denver, went to college, and am loving every minute! A word of caution before preceding: I am open minded, free spirited, and I'll do my best not to offend anyone.
A while back I learned the joy, the sinful pleasure, the orgasmic delight of a hot cup of Chai! I've always liked coffee, but I hadn't been to an actual coffee shop until about 2 years ago. They are now my home. I think I spend more time in those places than my own apartment.
The purpose of this blog is not to advertise these places. My goal is to share the feelings, tastes, and thoughts that occur to me at some of Denver's coffee shops.
